Happy Easter!
Today is my first Easter! I got a lot of goodies! I went to my granny and uncle John's house...I ate carrots for the first time...I ate it all up but I think its my least favourite so far...

Bumbo!
My breakfast Rice Cereal went very well as well...I didn't mess one drop! I sat in my bumbo seat for the first time but I am still too small so mommy put a small pillow under my bum!

Rice Cereal?
I went to Dr Egner for a check up...he was happy with everything...I weigh 2,7kg and I'm now 48cm long...Dr Egner said I could start eating Rice cereal from today...one spoon in the morning and one in the evening...he said that I probably won't actually eat much on the first few tries...I had some for supper and ate every single drop mommy gave me and I hardly made any mess at all :) I sat in my car seat while I ate.

Drive
I have been off the caffeine for 2 weeks now :) Daddy took us for a drive just to get out of the house because I don't go anywhere unless I have to, like to the doctor etc because it was suggested that I stay away from crowded places and sick people as much as possible, especially for the first 3 months - mommy and daddy are strict with this and don't even allow any visitors except for close family...

I'm a survivor!
I went for my follow up hearing test. I passed this time. I have to go for another follow up in six months time! I had a check up with Dr Egner today as well. While we were waiting for Dr Egner we met a little girl, she is nearly 2 years old...she was also born at 26 weeks and weighed 580g...Dr Egner was happy with everything...I weigh 2,25 kg now...I am Dr Egner youngest surviving patient so far! I will be getting stuff called Polycose added to my milk from now on to add calories. I went to visit the NICU at Parklands :)

Home Sweet Home
My granny came to visit me again today. Aunty Olivia and my cousin Mikayla came to visit me too...aunty Olivia held me for the first time and it was Mikayla's first time seeing me...mommy just gave me a bed bath today...

This Time It's For Real...
108 days old! Dr Egner said I can go home today! Daddy fetched me and mommy and we left at 12h55...we had a nice trip home, it was a nice cool day...we got home at 13h25 and settled down...I have a Respisense Ditto monitor that goes on my nappy and an Angel Care monitor for in my crib...my granny came to see me at home and hold me for the first time :) and later my granddad came to hold me for the first time too :) and uncle John came to meet me for the first time too...my first feed at home went well :) I am getting 0,8ml of Caffeine per day so long while I am at home...that is the only medicine I have to take other than my vitamins (D drops, Vi-daylin drops and Ferro drops L) I had a good day and a good sleep in my OWN bed at HOME!!!

One More Sleep!
Dr Egner decided to keep me here today, but if I have a good day and night I can possibly go home tomorrow! I had a great day :) The physiotherapist got some more stuff out of me today...

Headliner
When mommy and daddy arrived this morning I was already off the oxygen...I was on the front page of the mercury newspaper!!! I was mentioned on the SABC 3 news as well this morning when they were discussing newspaper headlines. Neville Pillay from East Coast Radio was also talking about me this morning!! And he posted something about me on his blog...I weigh 1,92kg today...Dr Egner said I could have one bottle and one breast feed today and that I can go into an open crib...I had physiotherapy today...the therapist said my chest is very congested, she got a lot of thick stuff out of me...tonight I am feeling a bit better but my nose is blocked which is making it a bit hard for me to breathe...daddy gave me a bottle...mommy has picked up a cold too now so she doesn't want to come too close to me...Billy Corgan put the following message on his twitter as well as the Smashing Pumpkins one - "Sending love to the Laydens" - how awesome is that?! The staff all refer to me as "the Celebrity" :)

Let's Go!
I am going home today! I am 104 days old!! I didn't have much of an appetite...I didn't really suck when I was breast fed and I wasn't very interested in the bottle either...I was a bit pale too...mommy said I seemed a bit weak and not myself, I went limp a few times...mommy and daddy thought maybe it was just a wind stuck or something, or thought maybe they were just nervous...an audiologist from Janet Smith's room came to check my hearing but she could not get a pass - she said it was inconclusive and would like to retest when I go for a check up with Dr Egner...a journalist named Bronwyn Gerretsen came to see me and take pictures for the Mercury Newspaper...after that we said our goodbyes to all our friends and then we left...on our way I really started battling to breathe...I picked up then dropped again...I then went snow white and completely limp mommy was not happy with my condition...her and daddy decided to stop by Dr Egner's rooms as we were right there...mommy ran up to Dr Egner's rooms with me in her arms...luckily he was right there as we ran through the door, he immediately took me and tended to me...I went pinkish again...he was not happy for me to go home anymore...he phoned Sister Rachael Pillay (The NICU Unit manager) and told her he is sending me back there and he wants them to check my oxygenation...he told mommy to flick my foot and make me cry on the way back if I seemed to stop breathing...I did and mommy had to flick me almost the whole way back...my cry was so soft and weak...mommy was crying with me...when we got to Parklands, Dr Shaik happened to be in the NICU and tended to me - I was put on oxygen and given caffeine...during the first ten minutes back in hospital I had many episodes of apnea over and over...once I had settled I was sneezing quite a bit and Dr Shaik noticed that my chest was quite wheezy, he suggested maybe I picked up a cold...a lit while later I had picked up again and was ready to be weaned off the oxygen...it was a long and disappointing day...

Let's Party!
I weigh 1,87kg now! We had a going home party in the NICU today :) I got my first Synagis injection today as well as my first normal vaccinations...I had a very good day and a very good night!

Joy Ride
Today I weigh 1,8kg...Dr Enger said I can go home next week! I went with mommy, daddy and aunty Welile to Dr Mannikam's rooms at St. Augustine's...he said my heart looks healthy...I enjoyed my first outing - my first car ride :)
